Some important Definition of d and f block Elements

Chemical Kinetics : The branch of physical chemistry which deals with the study of rate of reaction, the factor affecting the rate of reaction and the mechanism of reaction.

Rate of Reaction : the rate of reaction is a measure of speed or velocity with which the reaction occur.

Average Rate of Reaction : A difficulties arises to find out rate of reaction by simply divining total change in conc. by total time taken. This is because according to law of mass action, the rate of reaction depends upon the molar concentration of reactants which keep on decreasing with passage of time ( while those of products) goes on increasing. Therefore the rate of reaction, determined by simply divining conc. change with time taken is called average rate of reaction.

Law of Mass Action: According to law of mass action, the rate of reaction is directly proportional to product of molar concentration of reactant raised to power equal to their respective coefficient.
